New vaccine requirements next school year

State health officials say it’s time for parents to get their children’s immunizations for next school year.

The Indiana State Department of Health says students entering grades 6 to 12 will need to have received two spaced chickenpox vaccinations and one each for bacterial meningitis and tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis.

Most children entering preschool or kindergarten must have received two chickenpox vaccines at least three months apart.
